Chiesi Corporate Functions

These are all the functions based in Parma supporting the business: Global HR, Global ICT, Global Finance, Global Communication and Public Affairs, Shared Values & Sustainability, Corporate Internal Auditing, Global Strategy & Corporate Development, Legal & Corporate Affairs, Global Procurement.

 

Who we are looking for

Purpose

By joining this team you will be actively involved in the development and growth of the future pipeline and portfolio of our company supporting top management decision making. Together with your colleagues you will provide evaluation of new external opportunities creating a bridge between science and business.

Main Responsibilities

As part of this team you will:

  • Support top management decision-making related to inorganic enrichment of the Group pipeline and portfolio, works closely in coordination with GCoD (Global Corporate Development), R&D and commercial colleagues, to screen and assess new external opportunities. These may span across development stages and therapeutic modalities, within all relevant therapeutic areas (Air, Care, Rare)
  • Perform and present at relevant internal Committees high-quality assessments of new external opportunities through a triage of information sources (publicly available, confidential, interactions with internal and external experts etc..). Ensure an overarching understanding of the scientific relevance of new external opportunities in the context of the disease and its present and future standard of care
  • Develop and maintain strong network externally (OEG consultants and platforms) and internally in particular with all R&D functions to identify experts that may contribute to the assessment and ensure their engagement and coordination in performing high-quality and timely Screening, Business Case and Due Diligence (DD) activities
  • Final deliverables include R&D-focused assessments, Target Product Profiles and preliminary drug development plans (inclusive of risk assessment, costs and timelines to launch) pre-DD. In DD, supports TPP and plan refinement on top of the delivery of the relevant R&D DD reports
  • Interact directly with external potential partners (mainly Pharmas and Biotechs) in coordination with GCoD colleagues to extract relevant confidential information, via a mix of conference calls, access to virtual data rooms, Q&A and other tools (including if applicable on-site meetings)
  • Support the Global Corporate Development (GCoD)  and Legal team in the initial shaping of the collaboration model (M&A, licensing, partnership etc..) and ensure from DD up to deal signature a smooth coordination with the future Global Project Leader and Project Manager
  • May be assigned to develop ad-hoc projects to increase or maintain up to date know-how (including on specific diseases of interest, characterization of unmet medical needs and development pathways) that may impact inorganic growth activities 
     

Experience Required

At least 2 years of professional experience gained in industry, consulting or academia in either the drug development, business development/investments or strategic marketing fields or medical affairs.

Education

Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related fields. PhD is considered a plus.

Languages

Fluent in English (both written and spoken)

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of drug development with experience in critically reviewing and interpreting literature, study data/results, clinical-regulatory guidelines and assessing their impact cross-functionally.
  • Experience in writing reports and liaising with key opinion leaders and stakeholders (internal and external to Company).
  • Solid understanding of the inorganic growth / investment field and processes is considered a plus.
