About the role
As our Customs Tax Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring seamless customs compliance and advisory services for Cambridge University Press & Assessment. This will include work on appropriate frameworks, planning, obtaining tax advice, all of which will ensure our global customs footprint remains “fit for purpose”. You'll play a pivotal role in our global operation.
Key Accountabilities:
- Customs Compliance: Lead compliance efforts, oversee documentation, and ensure timely submission of declarations
- Tax Planning & Strategy: Drive efficient goods movement strategies and frameworks, demonstrating adaptability where laws change.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless compliance
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate customs and tax risks, developing contingency plans as needed
- Reporting & Analysis: Deliver insightful reports and analyse data to continually enhance processes and updated senior stakeholders
About you
You will possess an in-depth understanding of UK and international customs laws and regulations, coupled with a strong grasp of tax laws pertinent to international trade. Proficiency in imports/export procedures, tariffs, and classifications is essential, as is familiarity with customs compliance software and tools.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate expertise in VAT, GST, and other indirect tax matters related to cross-border trade, along with comprehensive understanding of supply chain operations and their intersection with customs and tax compliance.
More About You
- Relevant degree level qualification. A professional accountancy/tax/customs related qualification would be beneficial.
- Proven track record of successfully managing customs and tax compliance for international operations.
- Experience in liaising with government authorities and customs agencies.
