Job Title: Assistant Editor

Salary: £24,300 to £30,600

Location: Cambridge, UK / Hybrid

Contract: Permanent

If you are looking for a career in publishing, this is a great position to set you up with all the tools to succeed.

There are two sides to this role: on the one hand you will be working on the content we produce that goes out to our learners and teachers around the world; and on the other hand, you will have direct contact with our customers to support them with any additional resources or specialised requests. Variety will be a daily occurrence!

You will be joining the Adult/HE portfolio within Propositions as an Assistant Editor to support the editorial team and contribute to the development and maintenance of some of Cambridge University Press & Assessment's key Adult/HE ELT brands.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

About the role

The role is an entry-level path into ELT publishing and as you support the editorial team, you will learn skills and processes, including the development and build of digital components, which will benefit you in your future career within publishing.

You will also become familiar with a wide range of products in the HE/Adult portfolio, enabling you to effectively support customers learning and teaching English around the world.

Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to use your interest in English Language Teaching by contributing to the development of text, audio, video and digital content across different titles.

About you

You will have a proven interest in English Language Teaching; for example, you might have a CELTA qualification or similar. You'll also have experience with office procedures and software, including cloud-based document sharing systems and MS Office.

You will be a well-organised team player with a ‘can-do' attitude who takes as much care when checking or evaluating content as when performing administrative work, and you will have exceptional attention to detail. You will be able to work independently and use your own initiative to find solutions to problems. You're happy to take on mechanical as well as more complex assignments because you recognise that all tasks contribute to the high-quality content that Cambridge is renowned for.

If you would like to know more about this opportunity and what will make you successful, please see the full job description attached to the bottom of this vacancy on our careers site.

  • Private medical and Permanent Health Insurance

We are a hybrid working organisation, and we offer a range of flexible working options from day one. We expect most hybrid-working colleagues to spend 40-60% of their time at their dedicated office or location. We will also consider other work arrangements if you wish to work more flexibly or require adjustments due to a disability.
