About the role:
The Gartner R&A Studio translation team is currently looking for a Team Manager based in Beijing, China. The Manager will be responsible for leading a team of translators to deliver research insights to clients in the local language to impact client experience and support the business. In addition, the Manager will be tasked with innovating, scaling content processes and exploring technologies to drive high quality and accelerate content delivery. The position balances content, strategy and management responsibilities. The role must be strongly self-motivated, intellectually curious, articulate and highly problem solver.
What you will do:
Lead and develop a team of translators ensuring the team delivers high quality content efficiently and in line with the workflows.
Ensure quality and timeliness objectives are met in the global research content development workflow and projects handled by the team. Regularly check translators' work by reviewing documents.
Dive deeply into the issues, identify gaps and emerge with rational guidelines that improve the quality of content.
Develop strong process knowledge and identify areas for constant optimization and growth.
Track and report on team productivity, efficiency, resource utilization, and capacity.
Oversee the successful implementation of global research operations policies or processes.
Define and communicate goals and objectives in alignment with the global Content and Studio team.
Motivate, coach, facilitate, and solve work problems while being actively involved in the team's day-to-day activities.
Create an environment of teamwork, open communication, creative thinking, cohesive team effort, and workplace integrity.
Identify training needs and organize training sessions with global Studio, Content and other stakeholders.
Develop strong business acumen and ensure team members understand their impact on the business.
Work with functional and operation managers to obtain necessary resources and support for the team and the business.
Closely collaborate with peers and senior stakeholders in Studio and in China/other geographies as part of global research initiatives.
What you will need:
7+ years’ work experience in content production or a similar environment as part of a global corporation. It required extensive global stakeholder communication and management, coordination of multiple projects, and process/system innovation and optimization
2+ years’ experience in coaching, managing, and developing high-performing individuals and teams. Experience in a content production/research team at a global corporation is a plus.
Strong appetite to dive deep into a given content terrain to develop expertise and distill key findings.
Ability to gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform business decision. Analytic mindset and skills are required.
Demonstrated ability in driving to consensus, moving forward, and getting things done amongst large, global, and diverse groups of constituents.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to and facilitating conversations with internal and external professionals at all levels
Proven competence in meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and managing work under ambiguity/uncertainty.
Proven competence for managing, coaching, and developing a team. Ideal candidate has experience leading a remote or hybrid team.
Aspiration to constantly learn and improve.
Ability to work under pressure.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with machine translation and translation management software (e.g. memoQ) is a plus.
