Innovative Materials for Hybrid Storage Systems

The main objective of MIAMI is to create a national platform for the design of Hybrid Storage Systems, based on the integration of redox flow batteries and Power-to-X systems, using innovative materials through a holistic approach aimed at developing high-performance electrochemical energy storage systems promoting sustainability and circularity, and relying on advanced electrochemical and analytical techniques. In particular, innovative electrode materials, electrolytes, and polymeric separator membranes for vanadium flow batteries with a lower environmental impact will be developed. Among these, innovative electrocatalysts based on atomically isolated sites (single atomic active sites - SAC) of Cu and Co stabilized on defective centers containing heteroatoms of N and O in carbon dots (CD) will be developed.
