An exciting opportunity for a talented Marketing and Communications Managerwith excellent Genomics knowledge and industry experience to join our COSMIC team at Wellcome Sanger Institute.

About the Role:

You will be COSMIC Marketing and Communications Manager responsible to lead, develop and deliver an effective Marketing and Communications plan in line with the overall commercial strategy, product map and product development.

You will collaborating closely with the Head of Commercial and the broader COSMIC team on one hand, and our commercial partner’s Marketing team on the other. The aim is to increase COSMIC’s profile as a leading Knowledge Base in the somatic oncology field, raising awareness and generating new interest around the most comprehensive and longest-standing cancer somatic mutations database. Building on these marketing activities to ensure COSMIC is seen as a thought leader in the somatic genomics ecosystem, and the COSMIC’s values are clearly communicated to target audiences.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Create an overarching Marketing Plan and roadmap to enable delivery of the COSMIC Marketing and Communications Strategy, to include detailed Product and Digital Marketing activities in alignment with the COSMIC’s business strategy. Making sure that all COSMIC’s users segments are properly addressed.
• Nurture rapport with our commercial partner’s Marketing team, working alongside to raise COSMIC awareness and increase presence and exposure through focused marketing activities including webinars, conferences, websites and social media.
• Coordinate the activities of the Scientific Communications Officer to deliver compelling and dynamic scientific content using a wide range of media (video content, blogs, Linked In, Twitter) and engaging user communications (including coherent updates on releases for the external website). 
• Synthesise client feedback and needs for COSMIC’s product team to inform product enhancements and the development roadmap.

About You:

You must have a flair for creativity and innovative thinking to be able to problem solve and horizon scan to adopt and test new ideas and reach target audiences. You must have  excellent written and verbal communication skills to help deliver COSMIC’s Marketing and Communications strategy (internal and external).

Essential Technical Skills:

• Experience in producing engaging content to broad scientific audiences via multiple channels (such as social media and digital marketing management including Twitter, Linked In, Blog Posts, as well as traditional scientific publication/abstracts & trade press). 
• Experience scoping and designing methodology for measuring impact and success of activities
• Experience of, or desire to, line manage a small team to deliver strategies
• Degree in a Life Science subject which incorporates knowledge genetic/genomic sciences or bioinformatics
• Professional marketing qualification or equivalent experience
• Must know how to use common platforms, such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or Adobe Creative Suite. A familiarity with CRMs and marketing automation programs is a plus

About Us:

COSMIC is the key information source in global human cancer research and is growing rapidly in content, scope, and value. We exist to speed up the field of precision oncology so that every cancer journey can be tailored, accurate, and precise. We do this by streamlining and simplifying genomics data analysis for better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment research.

Other Information:

We operate a hybrid working pattern with the requirement of a minimum 2 - 3 days working onsite.
