Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Intermodal Terminal Manager to join their growing team in the Savannah, GA market. This individual will manage direct reports, foster customer relationships, and be responsible for the general operations of the terminal. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of terminal operations, proven success in a managerial position, and strong interpersonal skills.
Job Type: Full-time; Onsite Position
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and optimize all terminal and fleet operations.
- Manage direct reports with respectful authority, enforce accountability, and create a positive working environment.
- Build rapport and foster relationships with drivers and keep employees engaged and satisfied.
- Serve as point of contact for terminal operations, and represent the company in a positive light to improve industry reputation and grow business.
- Attend conferences and trade shows.
- Correspond and visit with customers and ports as needed.
- Maintain communication with new and existing customers to guarantee satisfaction.
- Promote and recommend services to grow customer accounts.
- Monitor fleet activities to ensure timely deliveries pick-ups.
- Resolve any escalated conflicts that may arise with empathy and professionalism.
- Constant collaboration with the Corporate HQ to ensure billing activities and functions are handled promptly and accurately.
Experience:
- Prior terminal operations experience required
- Intermodal and / or container drayage experience is required
- Current understanding of the various chassis providers
- Previous position in a management / leadership capacity
- Successful history of managing an office environment, delegating work, and building a solid company culture / morale
- Working knowledge of the specific market and its surrounding ports
- Understanding of the terminal system and the infrastructure of that environment
- Promote an organized, structured workplace
- Think and work proactively, as well as take initiative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as technological savviness
