Join the University of Bath MPharm at Plymouth

The Universities of Bath and Plymouth are collaborating with NHS England (Workforce, Training and Education Directorate) to establish a new School of Pharmacy located at the University of Plymouth.

This innovative approach takes the highly successful Bath MPharm and delivers it on site in new purpose-built facilities from September 2024. This venture is strongly supported by the wider pharmacy community and will represent a major step forward in supporting the pharmacy workforce in the southwest of England.

We are recruiting for a body of staff who will be located primarily in Plymouth but employed by the University of Bath, delivering this new Bath MPharm degree, and the first step in that is to seek an outstanding leader to deliver this exciting and innovative initiative.

Head of Pharmacy

The Head of Pharmacy will take overall strategic and operational responsibility for the implementation and delivery of the Bath MPharm course at the University of Plymouth. The position may be teaching only or may be a teaching and research position, depending on the skill set of the successful applicant or applicants.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

We are seeking to recruit multiple Lecturer or Senior Lecturer posts (teaching-focussed) to be core members of the Plymouth-based MPharm teaching team.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics/Drug Delivery
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biological Sciences/Pharmacology

Teach on a highly-ranked course

Our MPharm Pharmacy course is currently ranked Top 5 in the Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.

Students on our four-year MPharm at Plymouth will study the same course content as students at Bath, gaining unique knowledge of the scientific development and clinical use of medicines, and preparing them for a career as a pharmacist or in pharmaceutical research. Teaching will combine classroom and lab-based learning, campus-based simulations and placements in real healthcare settings across the South West.

This MPharm in a new location provides the opportunity to live and work in the vibrant and unique surroundings of Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, home to over 4,500 health and social care students.
