Underwriting Assistant

Within the Operations department of AXA XL Iberia, you will join the Middle Office team that aims to provide a high-quality service for our clients, creating and activating insurance coverage on complex risks. You will deal with brokers and clients of large companies, within an international dimension with the aim of solving contractual situations and every need of our customers at national and international level. You will have the opportunity to relate to all insurance departments from Underwriting, Finance and Claims, also communicating with our colleagues in other countries to activate insurance programs abroad.

Role Purpose 

 

Role holder provides support to Underwriting and ensures that the administrative processes for the end-to-end policy lifecycle are run efficiently and at a high quality to serve internal and external.  In addition, the Senior UA would take responsibility for more complex accounts as well as having in-depth knowledge of at least one line of business and can support UW in pre- and post-bind processes.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

The Senior Underwriting Assistant role is responsible for:

 

  1. Contracts handling (master policies, international programs outgoing and incoming) in an efficient and correct way for new and established businesses (sending, receiving, controlling)
  • by checking the conditions of acceptance of the customer’s request, interacting with the customer if necessary, by using various available data sources to make the right decision and give the right advice to the broker / client
  • by following up until contract signing or refusal
  • by developing draft contracts / amendments that fit with customer needs
  • by modifying coverage concepts if desired by the client / broker
  • by preparing contracts which are beyond his / her authority and discuss them with his team leader
  • by monitoring, planning and issuing contractual documents (policies, endorsement and certificates)
  1. Supporting the Credit Control team in the cash allocation for accounts and the monitoring of outstanding unpaid premiums.
  2. Data Management
  • preparing and sending weekly reports
  • preparing premium flows
  • preparing and sending local policies instructions
  • controlling Gross and Net portfolio
  • controlling data quality
  1. Acts as a reference point to help troubleshoot issues, provide processing / system expertise. This will basically include issues with global programs, where the Senior Underwriting Assistant will liaise with international offices and network partner to assist in the whole program completion. Additionally, supporting the middle office team in technical issues with key systems (Genius and Gismo).
  2. Develop expert level knowledge with regards to Genius Insurance System and Gismo for the implementation of Global Programs. Also, for processes, and keeping abreast of new guidelines published for policy administration and the management of Global Programs.

You will report to the Underwriting Assistant Team Leader.

Capabilities and qualifications

  • Bachelor´s degree desirable
  • Fluent English
  • Experience of 3 years in similar functions and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Strong internal relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills
