Thesis Work - Analog Design M/F
Regular/Temporary
Temporary
Job description
We are looking for a motivated graduate or PhD candidate to work towards his thesis in the Switching Competence Center of the Low Voltage & ST iGaN MACRO-Division (LGS) inside the Automotive and Discrete Group (ADG).
The team is tasked with developing and industrializing power management products for the automotive market with a strong focus on applications enabled by GaN (gallium nitride) devices, both as a power device driven with BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) controllers as well as a monolithic technology platform.
Objectives:
* Define with the candidate and complete a suitable Thesis Work that is both challenging and feasible within a well-defined timeframe.
Possible topics range from the high-voltage, high-power domain (DC-DC power stages or control) to the low-voltage analog mixed-signal and power management domain.
* Work with skilled professionals and be mentored by them to develop hands-on experience in Analog Design.
Activities:
* Design mixed-signal analog blocks according to specifications and validate them across process variations and applicative conditions.
* Support and direct the layout execution and check for layout correctness via PLS (post-layout simulations).
* Contribute to the definition and implementation of test requirements for the blocks under your responsibility.
* Produce design documentation and reporting of your results.
* Evaluate and debug your designs on engineering samples in the lab, if samples availability matches the thesis timeframe.
Competencies to be acquired:
* Hands-on experience in analog IC design for automotive products meant to go in production.
* Become familiar with the Analog Design flow and EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools, namely Cadence/Mentor suites & simulators.
* Knowledge of power electronics, DCDC converters and GaN technology.
* Knowledge of modeling techniques & languages (Simulink, VerilogA, etc.)
Profile
* Master's or PhD student in Electronics Engineering area.
* Integrated Analog Design background with knowledge of basic analog building blocks.
* Strong teamwork capability and communication skills.
* Good written/spoken English.
Job Location:
* On-site in Castelletto design center (Cornaredo, Milan area) and smart-working.
