Technical Project Manager

We are looking for a Technical Project Managerwith a main responsibility in leading technology development projects within the Future Research & Development Projects team.

The preferred location for this position is in Frauenfeld (Switzerland) but also Trieste (Italy) can be considered. 

In this position, remote working is an option too. 

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As a Technical Project Manager your work will include overseeing technology development projects throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline. The projects can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of a team with diverse expertise. Your role will include but is not limited to the following:

 

  • Analyse, plan and develop requirements in reference to scheduled projects.
  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that merge requirements with company goals and coordinate various technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
  • Monitor project progress continuously and make detailed scheduled reports on measurable items, such as milestones and deliverables.
  • Communicate proactively with all involved personnel to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives.
  • Assign and oversee the weekly tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all subordinates are actively working toward established milestones.
  • Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects.
  • Research and evaluate technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis when making large purchases on behalf of the company.

 

Requirements for the position 

 

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong technical background with a minimum of 3 years working experience in the shipping, automotive or energy industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies, and methods.
  • English language skills (verbal and written) are required, additional linguistic skills in either Italian or German is a plus.

 

 

As an ideal candidate you might also have… 

 

  • A Project Management certification from an accredited institution or company.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising department teams.
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality.
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of 2-Stroke marine engines.
  • Availability to travel from time to time.
