Business Title: Sustainable & Transition Finance Advisor
Department: ESG & Sustainability Solutions
Role Purpose:
Collaborate with Head of Department and the ESG & Sustainability Solutions Team and our Capital Market Business Line to help our Investor Clients identify and manage ESG-related risks, seize opportunities, decarbonise portfolios, disclose transparently in compliance with evolving sustainability-related regulations and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
1) ESG Integration
Develop and integrate an ESG finance framework, to allow the integration of ESG into all loans, investments and advisory services
Integrate ESG risks and opportunities in ESG Due Diligence and other cross-cutting deliverables, such as sustainability reporting, with the support of CBRE risk evaluation tools and methodologies
Co-develop recommendations with the rest of the ESG & Sustainability Solutions Team to support the decarbonization and climate-proofing of assets or portfolio of real estate assets
Undertake ESG reporting, benchmarking and data analytics to support the delivery and development of the ESG strategies for investor Clients; expertise includes integrate ESG-related risk and opportunities and sustainable financial disclosure in services provided to investors, either directly or via other CBRE investors-focused business lines.
2) Key Initiatives
Delivery of Sustainable finance reporting, and integrated reporting, aligned with GRESB, TCFD, TNFD, EU Taxonomy
Sustainabilitity risks evaluation and development of risk mitigation opportunities
Support in the development of an ESG finance and social impact framework, to allow the integration of ESG into all loans, investments and advisory services;
Support in the definition of ESG and Sustainability strategies aligned with double materiality approach
Support ongoing ESG trainings with Capital Advisors on ESG issues and directives;
Partner with the teams across Capital Advisors to help them integrate ESG into their existing businesses and support the growth of new products, such as green lending advisory services and ESG complaint capital raising
3) Additional responsibilities
Working with teams on new business pitches and client meetings with institutions, pension funds, propcos, banks, impact funds, local authorities and councils;
Support in thought leadership and research outputs on sustainable finance that provide insights for internal and external stakeholders;
Continue to evolve and innovate processes, products and services to drive efficiencies and effectiveness, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments; and
Support the delivery of wider ESG & Sustainability Consultancy initiatives across Client portfolios, including working with subject matter leads in delivering programs relating to specific sustainability themes such as due diligence, energy management and social / health impact, as well as assisting in the implementation of a sustainability strategy into the CE business.
Essential Skills & Competencies:
Experience of key ESG issues affecting businesses, as well as reporting and climate-related financial disclosure (e.g. GRESB, EPRA, TCFD, SFDR, EU Taxonomy etc.)
Experience of key sustainability tool / methodologies (e.g. LEED, BREEAM, nZEB, WELL Building Standard etc.)
Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong attention to detail
Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships across department, geographies and Clients
Flexible mindset for a new role, we need a self-starter!
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
Experience of applying sustainable finance principles, mechanisms, and rating methodologies in the built environment including but not limited to green and sustainability linked loans and credit facilities, and green bonds
Ability to understand and analyse information to be able to recommend informed solutions to problems
Experience of operating in a complex, commercial environment
Able to influence third parties to achieve desired sustainability outcomes
Nice to have: Familiar with GRI Reporting, LEAP and TNFD Framework, corporate strategy development
Person SpecificationS/Requirements
Bachelor degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sustainable Finance, Business, Environmental Sciences/ Management, Climate Change, Land Economics, Geography, Economics )
2-5 years of experience working as an ESG advisor, sustainability consultant, or similar
Exceptional written and oral communication skills: articulate, assertive and confident
Ability to speak confidently to a diverse set of stakeholder groups including fund managers, property managers and building managers
Proficiency in English written and oral
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel
Detail-oriented: Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn more and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven team environment
