At the Computer Science Department, University of Milano, Milan, Italy, we offer a research fellowship within the PRIN 2022 project SAFEST " Trust assurance of Digital Twins for medical cyber-physical systems" under the supervision of Elvinia Riccobene.
The project concerns the application of the Digital Twin paradigm in the context of Medical Cyber-Physical Systems (MCPSs), which are critical, interconnected, distributed, and context-aware systems of devices used in medicine. DTs can simulate physical devices to provide more informed and real-time relevant healthcare responses, enable decision-making, and assess patient risks. The complexity of modeling human behaviors and workflows, the presence of uncertainty, and the need for security guarantees for sensitive information are barriers to adopting DTs. In this context, the SAFEST project aims at improving the application and trustworthiness of DT-based methodologies and tools, also including the use of blockchain for the data supply chain, in the medical domain.
The ideal candidate will be involved in the following research topics: 1) Definition of modeling notations for Digital Twins in the medical domain; 2) Safety and security assurance of Digital Twins in the medical domain; 3) Design and implementation of a framework for the data exchange between Digital Twin and Physical Twin; 4) Use of blockchain for secure medical data management and exchange; 5) Application on a case study.
