Forma di lavoroA one-year bioinformatician position with the possibility to work remotely is available in the group of Dr. Marie-Louise Bang at the Institute of Genetic and Biomedical Research - National Research Council (IRGB-CNR), the biggest research entity in Italy, located at Humanitas Research Hospital in Rozzano (Milan), Italy. The group is part of the Cardio Center headed by Prof. Gianluigi Condorelli.
The focus of the lab is to study the mechanisms underlying cardiac disease as well as identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers. The successful candidate will benefit from the dynamic and collaborative international research environment at Humanitas Research Hospital.
Main tasks:
- Bioinformatic analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data (total RNA-Seq (protein-coding genes and lncRNAs), microRNA-Seq, Cut&Tag) from heart and plasma from different organisms (human, mouse, pig) under various pathological conditions.
- Network analyses and integrative analyses of multi-omics data.
- Curation of data for deposition in public repositories.
- Support for manuscript preparation.
Requirements:
- PhD (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, computer science, data science, or equivalent applied to biology, ideally within the cardiovascular field.
- Solid background in multi-omics analysis (transcriptomics and epigenetics), integration, and interpretation.
- Knowledge of at least one widely-used programming language (e.g. R, Python).
- Experience in using omics data to provide insights into molecular pathways and networks at the basis of human disease, preferably within the cardiovascular field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Able to work independently, but also team oriented.
