Research activities are on the topics of configuration and optimal control policies of zero defect multistage production systems. Relevant research topics are: performance evaluation of manufacturing systems by means of analytical, approximate analytical, and hybrid methodologies, cyber-physical systems modelling, optimal selection of system components (eg. machines, buffers), ramp-up time reduction, optimal control policies toward zero defect manufacturing and optimal maintenance policies. Relevant applications areas are; manufacturing of mechanical parts, mid-large volume assembly, electronic production, biointelligent manufacturing. Experience in significant national and European projects including roles as WP/Task leader or Principal Investigator of local units is required. Teaching requirements are on courses in the Scientific Sector ING-IND/16 Manufacturing Technology and Systems.
