The Senior Technology Engineer conducts maintenance, administration, and support activities including software, platform, and configuration for infrastructure technology onboard the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
You will report to the Manager Technology Engineering. Level: 2 stripes Officer
Responsibilities:
> Participates in shipboard Technology projects and assist with shore projects.
> Partner with the onboard and shore leadership teams for ongoing training and guidance of complex troubleshooting with shipboard Technology Engineers.
> Partner within the onboard Technology team to formulate ideas and recommendations from shipboard Technology and partnering teams to keep and enhance overall support functions.
> Support Shore Team with planning, communicating and scheduling of new application and system deployments.
> Perform deployment of system patches to all computers (PC and laptops) connected to the ships network.
> Perform maintenance and troubleshooting efforts for technology equipment across the ship to ensure stability.
> Partner on technology issues with bridge and engine specific systems where applicable.
> See to proper monitoring of access control for systems, information security and cyber-security in accordance with The Walt Disney Company Information Security Policies and Standards.
> Focus on onboard monitoring efforts to ensure network, server, satellite and other critical operational systems are functional as required by the business.
> See that the shipboard knowledge base is maintained properly to verify proper documentation of all systems and activities.
> Instruct users in computer-based activities (e.g., login, logout, personal file maintenance, printer operations, security standards, etc.).
> Responsible for monitoring and managing user’s data storage requirements to verify effective use of resources.
> Partner in the creation and standardization of automation tools and monitoring systems tools.
> Perform tasks to monitor server and server back-up infrastructure and report irregularities to the shore Server Team.
> Work in coordination with the First Engineer and Automation Electronics Engineer for the reliability, integrity and availability of automation systems throughout the vessel.
> Participate in the development of best practices, validation, and adherence.
> Responsible for documenting the infrastructure and monitoring systems.
Basic Qualifications:
> 3 to 5+ years of related experience in Systems Engineering and/or software development Experience in server and network environments, PC and Mobile device technology, package and custom-built software solutions.
> Strong collaboration and communication skills.
> Excellent customer service skills.
> Strong organization and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
> Bachelor's degree/or Certifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar fields.
> Familiarity with IT operations in the cruise industry.
> Knowledge of telephony systems including VOIP.
> Experience with VMWare virtualization technology. > Familiarity with Cisco network electronics. > Familiarity with Fidelio Cruise applications. > Familiarity with Micros Point of Sale application.
