Job Description

Responsible of the design of complex and innovative systems to automate and support the main on-board systems verification and validation.

Accountabilities

• Development of conceptual projects and technical feasibility analysis.
• Coordination of project activities with the other corporate functions: Industrialization, Purchasing, Quality, etc. to manage the complete development of the project and its integration.
• Definition of both functional and no-functional requirements
• Definition of the SW architecture
• Definition of the HW architecture for central servers (e.g. on premises/cloud/hybrid).
• Definition of the network and communications design in terms of protocols and security appliance in accordance with IT Department and Cyber Security office.
• Coordinate internal resources and mentor the junior resources.
• Review suppliers’ technical offers/deliverables and monitor/coordinate suppliers’ progress
• Write both technical documents and projects plans.
• Prepare and share accurate and periodical progress reports.

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Experience in management of complex SW projects, ensuring compliance with deadlines, quality, and costs.
• Having led the development at least of one complex system from conceptual phase to the commissioning in railway sector it is a must.

• At least 10 years of experience in developing and design of complex data intensive web applications.

• Experience in developing and design of real time SW on Linux based platform. 
• Strong technical competence/experiences on:
  • Web Technologies (J2EE, .NET), RDBMS, No SQL DB, Open-Source frameworks,
  • Ethernet network design and protocols (VPN, TCP/UDP, FTP, Routing, MQTT/AMQP, REST, etc.)
  • Main programming languages and application on embedded system in real time contest (C / C ++, Python, Linux, Eclipse)
• Knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations.
• Knowledge of Software Engineering (EN50128, EN 50657, IEEE1558)
• Knowledge of requirements management and dedicated tools (IBM Rational DOORS)   
• Knowledge of the rail subsystem qualification process and testing best practice
• Skills on AI-related technologies are a plus.
• Availability for short-term national and international business trip.

Education/Qualifications

• Degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Languages

• Fluent Knowledge of English (written & spoken).
