About the role 

Our high performing and engaged Finance team supports and challenges its partners to drive value for the Group. We provide excellent decision support, insightful financial reporting and cost-efficient processes in a sound control environment.

The job holder will be responsible for providing financial insight, challenge and support for the Technology enabling function and Group capital expenditure. 

They will be expected to drive a commercial mindset within the enabling teams that they support. 

About the role 

Decision Support

• Drive performance management within the Technology enabling functional area.
• Utilising business data, identify trends and performance opportunities that can be exploited across these areas.
• Provide a mechanism to monitor and assess appropriate KPI’s for these areas as well as optimise cost to serve. 
• Assess, and where appropriate, challenge strategy plans to ensure that all developments support the effective execution of the strategy
• Maintain a commercial mind set when identifying actions or making decisions. Understand the implications of, and be accountable for, those decisions

Reporting

• Directly accountable for the accurate compilation and reporting of all budgets, forecasts and Investment Proposals
• Support the Technology enabling functional area in the provision of financial insight into performance, profitability, investments, and cash flow
• Utilising business data produce trend analysis and performance reports which highlight performance risks and opportunities
• Find new and innovative ways to present data to ensure that the business fully understands the trends, issues and opportunities
• Produce ad-hoc reports as necessary to enable the communication of financial performance with recommendations and actions
• Support the finance team in meeting Group submission deadlines

Problem Solving

• Pro-active analysis and management of key cost areas
• Provide pro-active analysis of key business metrics to highlight issues
• Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery
• Engender a mind-set in the team to identify solutions, rather than report problems

Functional leadership and team management

• Work across the Technology enabling functional area to influence performance and drive strategy execution
• Work with the wider finance team to develop and use common approaches and share best practice
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement
• Be an effective leader and team leader
• Manage own development proactively and demonstrate role model behaviour

Person Specificaton 

​​ Essential:

• Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent)
• Well-developed analytical capability with a high level of commercial awareness
• Developed successful relationships with Group stakeholders and with internal colleagues at all levels within a company.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
• Has the experience and gravitas to be able to operate with colleagues at a senior level.
• Awareness and understanding of risk management from a commercial perspective.

Desirable:

• International experience
• Experience of working across borders and within a matrix organisation
