Interior Planning and Design (salary group W 2)

which is to be filled at the earliest possible date.

Job Description:

The professorship of Interior Planning and Design integrates knowledge and practical experience with the specific requirements of building in existing structures, including their historical dimension. 

The degree program in Architecture at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau is committed to a holistic profile, which logically includes a focus on spatial development with its social and functional objectives, its components of space, light, material, color and architectural detail. This profile will be strengthened by appointing an interior designer or an architect whose professional activity is focused on interior design to the Professorship of “Interior Planning and Design”.

The position holder (m/f/x) represents the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, continuing education and research.

The professorship contributes significantly to the department's bachelor's and master's programs, both in German and international courses. In addition to outstanding qualifications in the field of the appointment, a very good knowledge of English is also required for teaching courses in English.

The professorship requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor's and master's theses, student projects and excursions, to the strategic further development of the consecutive degree programs, as well as the expansion and development of career-integrated, continuing education and cooperative degree programs. Anhalt University’s application-oriented study approach requires intensive cooperation with the practice and training partners.

As part of applied research, interdisciplinary cooperation with national and international universities and research institutions, with companies and professional associations as well as with other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is highly desired. Active participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and research and development projects is expected.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-intensive disciplines. Participation in the inter-university Doctoral Center “Architecture and Design Research” is therefore desired.

Active participation in the University’s collaborative academic management structures (akademische Selbstverwaltung) is also one of the tasks of the professorship.

Requirement Profile:

We are looking for a person with a proven track record in the area of expertise and practical experience in the Planning and Designof Interiors, with due regard to the typical characteristics of buildings. This includes adapting a building to different usage profiles throughout its life cycle.

The applicant (m/f/x) holds a relevant university degree in interior design or architecture.

Proven expertise in at least two of the following building typologies:

• Residential,
• Office,
• Educational,

and a further additional focus is required.

The module courses assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and techniques. A special focus is to be placed on digital teaching concepts. Current research findings are to be integrated into the curriculum.

Furthermore, the future position holder (m/f/x) should demonstrate expertise in the acquisition and implementation of collaborative and/or externally funded projects with partners from academia and practice, as well as publications in the aforementioned focus areas.

International networking in the subject area of the professorship is desired.

A sound knowledge of the German and English languages is required, as are intercultural skills.

Employment requirements:

The requirements for employment are governed by article 35 Hochschulgesetz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt (HSG LSA).

Any first-time appointment to a professorship is based on fulfilling the requirements for a probationary civil servant position (Beamtenverhältnis auf Probe).
