Amazon MSP is seeking an exceptionally talented Mechatronics and Robotics Testing Engineer to build, test and validate breakthrough technologies for our Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FC). The role is based out of our Research & Development Laboratory in Vercelli near Milan, and focuses on strengthening and consolidating Lab testing and validation capabilities, acting as a key player in the technology development process and fostering knowledge transfer to stakeholders, towards an effective automation integration in the field. Successful candidates have experience in testing technologies across mechatronics, robotics, autonomous vehicles, sortation and packaging machineries; drive efficiencies in engineering and/or complex architectures to unblock innovation and speed of delivery; act as domain experts and drivers to validate AT projects related to the development of new automation technologies.
Key job responsibilities
• Define and deliver test plans and technical artifacts and feedback that influence other team’s designs and are widely referenced.
• Develop specific test cases for the technologies installed in the Lab and/or in the field.
• Analyze test results, detect issues and track root causes.
• Dive deep on HW faults and SW bugs identifying root-causes and leading the action plan for the resolution.
• Document technical issues and solutions.
• Prepare test reports for product teams and leadership and suggest fixes and improvements.
• Participate in technical risk assessments and lead the failure mode identification (e.g., Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis - PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis - FTA) to identify design gaps.
• Collaborate effectively with design teams to identify and evaluate technical design options and best practices to satisfy design goals.
• Understand the systems architecture and how HW and SW interact in order to determine the root cause interface and performance problems.
• Understand system impacts and identify opportunities/problems arising from technical decisions.
• Lead extensive machinery operational runs in order to collect performance metrics and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

QUALIFICHE DI BASE

• Have proven experience developing and testing mechanical – robotics – logistics – packing equipment working with equipment suppliers, laboratories and manufacturing plants.
• Have proven experience developing and testing Mechatronics and robotics equipment.
• Ability to understand operational processes and hands-on experience.
• Flexibility to travel up to 50% across Europe.
• Experience working with equipment suppliers, laboratories and manufacturing plants.
• Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in hardware and testing engineering and ability to apply them to product design
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams.
• Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents
• Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced agile environment.
• Experience with full lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet associated milestones.
• Experience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems.
• University Degree, BSc or MSc, in Engineering (or science/technology).

QUALIFICHE PREFERENZIALI

• University Degree, B.S. or Master, in Engineering (or science/technology).
• Proven technical leadership experience in development, testing and implementation of large scale, complex technology projects.
• Experience in using Modeling, Project Management, CAD and Software programming tools.
• Working knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and software for technical document writing such as Visio, Word, Excel and/or PowerPoint.
