Medical Scientific Liaison, Ophthalmology

About this job: 


As a Medical Scientific Liaison, Ophthalmology, you will play a vital role in the organization by developing relationships and engaging in scientific exchange with influential medical and scientific Key External Experts.
This position will be contributing to the strengthening of the Ophthalmology area within the company and will be coordinating with other departments, where innovation, autonomy and a solid partnership with stakeholders is key. In this role you will be able to continue growing professionally by working side by side with experts from different areas.

 

As a Medical Scientific Liaison, Ophthalmology you will: 

 

  • Engage in scientific exchange in which knowledge about product(s), disease(s) and therapeutic areas is shared to ensure safe and effective use of Astellas products and engage in discussions regarding evolving trends in disease state management, trends in therapy.
  • Provide Astellas with actionable scientific, medical and competitive insights and intelligence gained during scientific exchange and assess possible impact on Astellas initiatives.
  • Maintain medical and scientific knowledge and staying current to enable peer-to-peer scientific exchange. This can include, but not be limited to, attendance to medical/scientific congresses, evaluate relevant scientific literature, and complete continuous education and self-learning courses.
  • Identify Key External Experts (KEE) in alignment with Medical Strategy and develop and maintain professional relationships with KEE. Providing support to and engage in scientific exchange with KEE.
  • In Research support, identify investigators and recommending sites for Medical Affairs and/or Development sponsored studies and engage with Investigators about their research capabilities as appropriate.


Essential Knowledge & Experience: 

 

 

  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or in the medical field (e.g. Medical Affairs, Product Management, Clinical Research or Academia)
  • Proven experience in Ophthalmology or related therapeutic areas 
  • Team player but also able to work independently

 

Education/Qualifications: 

 

  • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD in health related science or PharmD) or equivalent

 

Additional information: 

 

  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • This position is field based in (Italy / Emilia Romagna and Triveneto) and 50% travel is expected in line with your role.
