WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Motion CaptureLab Technician to ensure the functionality of our facilities and equipment. The candidate needs to have a keen eye for details, trouble shooting and creative problem solving. Someone who isn’t afraid to fix things with their own hands. Collaboration is required, when working across the NSRL teams to enable research. Verbal and written communication is critical, ensuring all partners and teammates are aware of scheduled maintenance, equipment updates, ongoing project support and progress towards deadlines and deliverables. We are looking for someone who can be seen as a domain expert and the go-to person for our equipment, software, and research spaces. Multi-tasking and context switching is common in this role and will require someone who can move fluidly through various requests, projects, and deliverables. Familiarity with biomechanics, physiology, and/or other sport research lab settings is preferred.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you’ll be working with a direct team of technical experts in Engineering, Motion Capture, and Sport Research. You will help ensure Motion Capture equipment is calibrated and functional, conduct and manage regular service and maintenance of spaces and equipment, procure new equipment and supplies, and oversee shipping of equipment. To minimize research downtime, you will also provide in the moment support when systems or equipment needs attention and on-the-spot trouble shooting to resolve issues. Purchasing and distribution of regular supplies, keeping our inventory management system up to date, and helping organize equipment for various locations will also be a regular part of your job. Documentation of research space, software, and equipment operating procedures will need to be updated periodically throughout the year, as well as coordinating onsite training to keep the research teams sharp with their skills is also required.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will partner across research teams to understand their equipment, research space, supply, and software needs to support their specific studies. You will also liaise with various vendors to maintain, service, and procure new equipment. You will collaborate alongside your peers to prioritize deliverables, outcomes, and feedback.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biomechanics, kinesiology or related field with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in relevant role.

  • Understanding of sport research tools, software, instruments, and equipment.

  • Experience in biomechanics, in a sport research lab setting preferred.

  • Experience with Vicon, Opti track or other Motion Capture systems.

  • Experience with Kistler, AMTI or other force plate systems.

  • Experience with high speed video recording systems.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs, scale ladders, and perform manual tasks.

  • Ability to work on a 10 ft ladder to maintain Motion Capture cameras.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization, and execution of tasks

  • Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking to improve processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details and creatively solve problems.
