Job Title:Kitchen & Conference Assistant

Salary: £12.22 per hour

Location: The Pitt Building, Cambridge

Contract: 8 hours per week

 

The Pitt Building Events team are seeking an enthusiastic and efficient Kitchen and Conference Assistant to join our small and friendly team.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

 

About the role

The role will involve supporting the successful operational delivery of meetings, events, training courses and exhibitions for a wide range of internal and external customers at our prestigious conference venue in Cambridge city centre.

 

This varied, flexible and practical role offers an introduction to the events industry and includes the setting up and breaking down of rooms after events together with some catering duties.

It requires attention to detail and a proven understanding of excellent customer service. Working hours will usually be weekdays, as and when required, although there may be some opportunities for evening and weekend work.

 

There may also be opportunities to provide occasional support for events at the Cass Centre, our sports and social venue at Cambridge University Press and Assessment on Shaftesbury Road.

  • Support the operations and service of Pitt Building events, including changing room layouts, setting up IT and conference equipment and A/V troubleshooting.
  • Provide a professional, efficient and friendly service, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
  • Support the delivery of all aspects of Pitt Building catering service, when required, demonstrating a good understanding of food hygiene and safety.
  • Support the environmental impact strategy of the Pitt Building.

 

About you

You will deal confidently with a wide range of people and enjoy working in a customer facing environment.

You will have a flexible approach, be able to balance conflicting priorities in a fast–paced environment and be detail focussed.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

 

  • Physical fitness, as moving furniture is essential to the role
  • Strong communication, problem solving and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Aptitude to provide an excellent customer experience
  • Confidence to troubleshoot IT software and hardware

 

A Level 2 Food Safety certificate is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
