Junior Hardware Engineer

Job description:

The Junior Hardware Engineer, within the Interlocking (IXL) team, is responsible for the architecture definition (using the standard product/platform’s architectures), the bill of material, the wiring, the cost estimation/monitoring and the required level of quality as well as to define and manage the related scheduling or the verification steps.

Responsibilities

  • Support with production of suitable Purchase Technical Specifications, (PTS)

  • Ensure that external providers or contractors have suitable Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) and PTS in place

  • Produce BoQ (Bill of Quantity) and EPBS (Electro Pneumatic Brake System)

  • Coordinate with Supply chain Planner

  • Ensuring the quality of the deliverables

  • Responsible for the design and definition of the technical solution and the implementation of specific requirements (for ex. contractual requirements)

  • Be the interface with Functional Designer to define new interfaces

  • Coordinate all technical discussions with the Authorities, the Customer, the Partners, other Contractors, and, if necessary, with the Suppliers.

  • Prepare and discuss technical documents to the Customer and the Authorities, with the exception of the RAMS documents for which the authorization is in charge of the RAMS manager.

  • Progress the technical work within the Project Team, liaising with Project Engineer, RAMS, Quality Assurance Engineer, Construction Manager, Commissioning Manager and Supply Chain Planner.

  • Ensure the finalization of the project solution and its adequate realization, through the collection of all feedback from site activities and the related corrective actions, during the whole project life cycle until the final system acceptance.

  • Agree with the Principle Project Engineer on the key technical risks, assist in development of the risk matrix and apply the risk management strategy of the project.

  • Participate to technical meetings, including Design Reviews, of the project team to discuss project progress, monitor processes, non-conformities and discuss technical matters.

  • Provide all information (as skill, time and duration of the effort) to Engineering Team Managers for adequate resource staffing, and escalate the request within Engineering Organization, whenever the case, to ensure that the needed Team members are secured to the project.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Support the Principle Program Manager in implementation of suitable Safety Culture where Safety Leadership is demonstrated by key roles on the project 

  • Support with implementation of project processes and procedures to ensure compliance with all legal, Company and Client requirements

  • Support implementation of adequate safety systems of work to manage effectively significant and particular risks; by reviewing WPPs (Work Package Plans) and providing appropriate review input

  • Comply with requirements of Construction Phase Plan developed and local Regulations

  • Ensure that technical and Health and Safety related incidents are reviewed from an engineering/technical perspective

We expect from you:

  • Strong communication skills - for liaising with clients, supply chain, Work Package Leaders (WPLs) and other engineering staff

  • Willingness to understand a new product and its proper application

  • Have a strong orientation to Work in multi-functional and/or international projects

  • Flexibility in regards to domestic and international travel

  • Have a strong orientation to Work interfacing with customers, stakeholders and suppliers at all levels

  • The ability to work on own initiative, setting clear targets and deliverables

  • A self-starter willing to take responsibility for delivery of goals and objectives

  • Familiar and comfortable in working in a project/functional matrix organization

Desirable Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of general principles of electric circuits and their application
