Role Overview

We're looking for a committed full-time organiser / campaigner to join our ‘creative resistance’ to stop the rise of right-wing extremism in Germany ahead of the European elections, from March until June 15.  

You will be part of a team dedicated to ensuring Europe continues to stand as a strong democratic force. This position is a unique opportunity to shape Europe's future and keep the voices of hatred and division at bay.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of research/investigation to produce press releases, briefs and multimedia content related to the EU elections, highlighting the actual record, policies and agenda of the far right.
  • Identify opportunities and trends, produce analyses in a clear and accessible manner for a wider audience. Generate story ideas and pitch compelling angles for media coverage. 
  • Assist Campaign Directors in drafting campaigns, ads and other types of messaging.
  • Publishing and editing online content. 

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in investigative journalism or similar fields, with demonstrated results, incl. exclusive stories.
  • Strong analytical, research, and investigative skills.
  • Solid writing, editing and oral communication skills in German - high proficiency in English is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the German political context, the far right, far right figures and network.
  • Access to media contacts, and knowledge of the media landscape in Germany.
  • High-level understanding of social media and chat platforms, incl. TikTok and WhatsApp.
  • Strong understanding and experience of how public elections campaigns function.
  • Professionalism, efficiency and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
  • Passion and commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment and social change.
  • Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture and a hierarchical team structure.

Location

Avaaz is a virtual organisation, with most of our work done online. This position will be based in Germany.

Compensation

Salary varies with location and experience, and is highly competitive with leading international nongovernmental organisations. The monthly compensation for this position ranges from 4.800 - 7.000 EURO.
