The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Unit of Information and Technology Management (ITM) in Copenhagen plays a vital role in advancing UNDP's digital transformation agenda. ITM supports UNDP Country Offices with the implementation of digital and green energy solutions, to achieve sustainable development goals on a global scale while enhancing value delivery to partners. The Graphic Design Internship will support ITM’s Communication and Change Management team, specifically for the team's expanded communication services offering for UNDP units.

The UNDP/ITM Graphic Design Internship programme enhances the academic life experience of passionate students as interns and empowers them to become socially responsible, innovative, and environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow. As an intern, you will also gain worldwide connections with other top-talented interns and UN staff and be given tasks and opportunities that have a direct global impact on international development efforts.
- Conceptualize and create a wide variety of high-impact digital and print products, such as banners, icons, one-pagers, information pamphlets, and rollup banners to support any initiatives;
- Develop reusable branded templates for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, email headers, footers, newsletter layouts, training materials, etc.;
- Assist with the development and adoption of internal brand – including visual identities, logos, colour palettes, and iconography, etc.;
- Support visual development for intranet enhancement and produce community of practice materials to promote UNDP’s value proposition internally;
- Prepare graphic and visual content for the development of videos and motion graphic products;
- Support to format, design the layout of annual reports, based on the available content, data and reporting information, and input from stakeholders/clients;
- Propose and implement creative and engaging solutions for data visualizations, infographics, maps and other visuals;
- Ensure that all publications and other communications materials are produced in line with the UNDP visual style guide;
- Any other related tasks may be required or assigned by the supervisor
- Design: Able to develop and create communication material (such as icons, logos, infographics, templates, etc.);
- Communication: Understands internal communications and can produce visual communications material for a variety of contexts and formats;
- Quick Learner: Quickly grasps and applies new knowledge, skills, and procedures to efficiently execute tasks and contribute to projects with minimal supervision or training;

- You are currently in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree; or
- You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or
- You have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a master’s degree or equivalent studies in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Motion Graphics & Animation, Interaction Design, Illustration, or related fields
- A strong portfolio showcasing previous design projects is required. Please include this with your CV when applying.
- Proficient with Graphic Design tools within Adobe Creative Cloud (i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) is required. Experience with other design tools such as Figma and Cinema 4D is an advantage.
- Experience with brand development and brand management is required.
- Proficient user of Microsoft 365 tools (Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint, etc.) is an advantage.
- Experience with motion graphics and animations is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge in photography is an advantage.
- Any previous experience working within the UN system, NGOs or international organizations is an advantage.
- Experience working as part of design/creative team and project management is an advantage.
- Fluent in written and spoken English is required. Working Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
