On behalf of this estimated Client, we are looking for a


GLOBAL LOGISTICS DIRECTOR



Purpose of the role


Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director, he/she will be responsible for overseeing and continuously enhancing the logistics function across the organization on a global scale.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: develop and execute a GLOBAL LOGISTICS -vision and -strategy that aligns with the organization's vision & goals and considers market dynamics; lead the logistics function with agile methodologies and Lean principles (eg Kaizen).


  • Leadership and Management: lead his/her team directly and the Divisional/Plants’ local teams functionally. Seek alignment with management of the local business units.


  • Budget, Planning, Performance Management: oversee the logistics budget and activity planning, ensuring alignment with the organization's financial goals and operational needs; performance tracking and variance analysis to optimize logistics performance and cost-effectiveness.

  • Process Integration and Optimization: ensure the seamless integration of logistics with purchasing and manufacturing processes across all locations, enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction; implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track logistics performance, identify areas for improvement, and respond proactively to market changes.


  • External transportation and Internal Logistics: manages global transport networks and ensures compliance with international trade laws; optimizing internal logistics to ensure timely production line supply.

  • Global Warehouse and Inventory Optimization: develops a worldwide warehousing strategy with advanced inventory management to forecast demand, optimize storage, and balance inventory with production needs, reducing costs.





Requirements:


• Bachelor’s degree or higher in automotive, mechanical engineering, metal materials, quality management, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field of study

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in an international manufacturing company, with at least 7 years in a managerial role overseeing logistics or supply chain operations

• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts; Six Sigma certification is a significant plus

• Excellent skills in analyzing complex data, identifying trends, and translating insights into actionable, innovative solutions for logistics and supply chain challenges; advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with logistics and supply chain software, tools, and best practices

• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performance teams within a fast-paced, changing and multi-cultural environment

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

• Advanced level of English language proficiency (written and spoken) is a must.



Location: based in Italy, preferably Milan or Bologna area; availability to travel globally.
