IMT Atlantique, an elite French Technological University renowned for its academic excellence and cutting-edge research in the field of information science, energy and environmental technologies which is ranked in the top 10 in France. As part of its development and ambition in Cybersecurity, IMT Atlantique invites applications for the position of Professor in computer science security in Rennes, a city with a rich Cybersecurity ecosystem.
Thematic and research challenges
The profile is open in computer science security with an emphasis on the security of future networks and emerging applications and involves the following expectations:
- Develop new activities, in line with the scientific project of the host team, through structuring projects and academic and/or industrial collaborations at national and international level (European projects).
- Manage and contribute to on-going large-scale projects (such as France2030, European projects, etc.).
- Publish high-impact articles in internationally recognized scientific journals, showcasing practical applications in the Cybersecurity domain.
Research activities will be carried out within the SOTERN team of the IRISA Laboratory.
Eco-system and context
IMT Atlantique has privileged relationships with major industrial national and international partners, as well as a dense network of SMEs, start-ups, and innovation networks. With 290 permanent faculty members, 2000 students among which 300 PhD students, IMT Atlantique produces every year 1000 publications and raises 18M€ of research funding.
The position is open on the campus of Rennes within the SRCD (Network Systems, Cybersecurity and Digital Law) department. It involves about 60 people, including 27 permanent teacher-researchers, working in six research teams (Adopnet, DSN, E4SE, Ermine, OCIF and SOTERN) within the IRISA laboratory.
The Brittany region is particularly active in Cybersecurity. The city of Rennes hosts numerous dedicated industrial and government agencies such as ANSSI, DGA-MI, ComCyber, Orange Cyberdefense, Thales, but also for education with the Graduate Cybersecurity Research School (EUR) CyberSchool. This is reinforced by initiatives of the Pole Excellence Cyber that federates major actors with a national scope and co-organizes each year the European Cyber Week (ECW) in Rennes. Finally, Rennes and Brittany host top rank research groups in Cybersecurity offering promising research collaboration opportunities.
Education
Located on 3 attractive campuses, IMT Atlantique has a strong international dynamic while remaining on a human scale. In its various master programs (4 engineering programs, 14 master’s programs), students are confronted with real-life problem situations through a variety of teaching approaches. The ambition is to train high-potential young professionals, capable of mobilizing a broad spectrum of skills in real-life situations, in all socio-economic fields, including research.
The candidate will contribute to the teaching computer science security and in particular:
- Be the head of the Cybersecurity track of the Master of Science on Information Technology, currently under design
- Develop and teach new courses in the Cybersecurity track of the Master of Science on Information Technology
- Teach security courses in the Cyber specialization (TAF), as well as in structuring education projects (CMA Train Cyber Experts) and finally in initiatives resulting from the Integrated Scientific and Technical Initiative (ISTI) Cyber (e.g., Cybersecurity in the Common Core)
Involved both in the core curriculum and in the elective courses, he will take part in cross-disciplinary activities in conjunction with companies: tutoring projects/internships, oral presentations, coaching, etc. He will be invited to propose new projects, programs and innovative teaching approaches. www.imt-atlantique.fr/en/study
