Job Title: Experience Designer

Salary: £36,700 - £47,700

Location: Cambridge/Hybrid

Contract: Full Time/Fixed Term (12 months)

As an Experience Designer, you'll be the driving force in an innovative team that is always exploring new ways to transform the design of experiences for our customers globally.

We are trusted by learners, academics and institutions all over the world and this is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate team of UX researchers, experience and service designers helping to make a difference to the people we serve.

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

About the role

You'll lead on design projects, working alongside colleagues in the Experience & Service Design team and in collaboration with global cross-functional teams. You'll help us to champion customer experience, designing experiences to support the continued development and growth of new and established products and services for the English Product Group.

You'll also:

  • provide UX deliverables from concept to implementation stages
  • lead user experience research projects with guidance
  • demonstrate a human-centred design approach in all aspects of work
  • assist in the development of a collaborative and highly effective, energised design team

About you

You enjoy solving problems with design and deliver original and well thought out solutions. You have an interest and appreciation of UX and CX, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop user journeys and flows that meet customer needs.

Experienced in UX design and UX research, you use customer insights and best practice principles to empathise with users, problem-solving to create solutions through a range of UX activities, from concept through to implementation and test the usability of solutions with customers.

You put the user at the heart of what you do and empathise with customers and internal stakeholders to understand the best way to deliver delightful and intuitive experiences.

Passionate about human-centred design, you are driven by optimising discoverability, usability, accessibility, credibility, and desirability.

To be successful in this role, you have:

  • excellent organisational skills.
  • good communication skills along with being a team player.
  • a positive, can-do attitude with an ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders.

You are excellent at organising your time and know how to communicate complex ideas clearly, highlighting insights and actionable recommendations, structuring reports and presentations in a way that will accommodate various cross-functional roles at varying seniority levels.

We expect that you have experience designing for in-house or agency including creating cross-platform, responsive user interfaces, ideally in an Agile/Scrum environment.

You have experience of, or a qualification in Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction or similar and some understanding of basic front-end development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) would be beneficial.

Please include a link to your portfolio in your covering letter or your application may not be considered.

Rewards and benefits

We will support you to be at your best in work and to live well outside of it. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a world-class, flexible rewards package, featuring family-friendly and planet-friendly benefits including:

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Private medical and Permanent Health Insurance
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Group personal pension scheme
  • Life assurance up to 4 x annual salary
  • Green travel schemes

We are a hybrid working organisation, and we offer a range of flexible working options from day one. We expect most hybrid-working colleagues to spend 40-60% of their time at their dedicated office or location. We will also consider other work arrangements if you wish to work more flexibly or require adjustments due to a disability.
