Your new company

Our client is an important Italian Group, listed on the Stock Exchange, active in the agro-industrial and agricultural sectors.

As a result of a joint venture with one of the major leaders worldwide in the production and marketing of energy also from renewable sources, a new company has been established to provide technical assistance and operational support in several African countries, including Angola, Congo, Mozambique, Rwanda, Kenya, and the Ivory Coast.

The new company works on projects mainly focused on oilseed crops for the production of vegetable oil for bio-refining processes.


Your new job

The professionals we are looking for will be responsible for:

  • Assessment, identification and selection of the best farming systems and cycles for the production of vegetal oil (bio-feedstock), for their enhancement in biorefinery also by considering agronomical input, agricultural production’s management and logistics
  • Optimization of agronomical output for rotations crops and eventual sustainable sustainable crops used in different farming systems in key areas
  • Support to agro-industrial activities evolved in operational backgrounds of African countries, by offering technical skills and helping the improving of production’s KPI such as agronomic outputs and supply chain management
  • Drafting of reports on the status of agricultural production and activities
  • Support to design, implementation and management of seed multiplication fields (first field), field monitoring, analysis on agronomical data
  • Support to design, implementation and management of lead activities of experimental fields field monitoring, analysis on agronomical data
  • Support to design, implementation and management of local model farm for the promotion of agricultural development models, food and environmental sustainability, and reduction of carbon footprint in Africa

Commitment, dedication and willingness to work extensively outside Europe are key assets required for this role, besides working closely with the project team.


What you nerd to success

  • Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, preferably with majors or PhDs in Tropical Agronomy, Forestry, and Bioenergy. Different degrees may also be considered upon significant experience in line with the role
  • A minimum of 3 years' work experience in the design and management of agro-industrial supply chains, preferably aimed at the energy, textile, and manufacturing sectors; previous experience in Africa or within the bioenergy sector is a plus
  • Knowledge of cropping systems for the production of oilseed crops for bio feedstock, with emphasis on rotation crops and cultivations designed to be grown in rundown areas not intended for food production
  • Knowledge of regulations in agriculture and possibly related to renewable energy from biomass, biofuels, certification, and general criteria for environmental and social sustainability
  • Full availability for international mobility in terms of extra-European transfers with annual duties
  • Fluency in English

Knowledge of French is required for the areas of Congo and Ivory Coast, Portuguese for Angola and Mozambique, and English for Rwanda and Kenya.


Workplace

Agronomists’ activity covers the main areas of agricultural production in Angola, Congo, Mozambique, Kenya, and Ivory Coast where partners programs on bio-feedstock oil crop production are active.


Contract type

Permanent expat contract or 1-year fixed-term contract, which can be renewable for long term.
