Database Admin Lead
Bangalore/ Gurgaon, India

The Database Lead will provide strategic guidance and technical expertise on the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's database estate ensuring performance, integrity and security of data. They will lead and develop a centralized team of DBAs and create company-wide DBA best practices and standards.  This role will work closely with the IT and business teams to ensure that the database architecture supports the organization's goals and objectives and will help to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

·       You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance strategy for the AXA XL database estate.

·       Lead technical initiatives related to the organization's database estate, including designing, implementing, and maintaining databases and related systems.

·       Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement within the database estate.

·       Lead, coach and manage internal DBA staff and contractors.  Responsible for staff development and team culture.

·       Provide technical expertise and guidance to other IT staff on database-related issues and support the development of technical skills within the team.

·       Evaluate new database technologies and make recommendations on their potential value to the organization.

·       Establish database and administer best practices and standards ensuring alignment to AXA XL Security and Risk standards are met. 

·       Create a holistic view of the as-is and to-be database landscape for various initiatives.

·       Consult and work with Solution Delivery, Digital Factory, and Transversal Application Services teams to ensure solutions meet data model requirements.

·       Implement database structures and processes that meet the organization's current and future needs, including performance, scalability, and security requirements.

·       Ensure all deliverables are aligned to all relevant governance requirements, including Design Authorities, through Data and Solution Architects.

·       Evolving the Enterprise Information Model for relevant business domains, ensuring alignment across the group.

·       Ensuring hardware and software are updated and in compliance with security standards.

·       Ethically handling private data and secret data.

You will report to the Head of Transversal Platforms.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Required Skills and Abilities:

·       Significant experience in SQL Server Database Administration, with experience in designing and implementing large-scale enterprise databases.

·       Some experience in Oracle and DB2.

·       Good knowledge of SQL database design, administration, and performance tuning.

·       Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions such as Amazon RDS, Microsoft Azure SQL Database, and Azure Cosmos DB (Mongo).

·       Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

·       Ability to work collaboratively with IT and business stakeholders to achieve common goals.

·       Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

·       Proven leadership experience in leading technical initiatives and driving change.

·       Demonstrable ability to solve complex project problems/issues.

·       Adept at vendor management, both commercially and interpersonally, with a clear understanding of T&M, Managed Services, and Managed Outcome commercial models through both waterfall and agile delivery models.

·       Builds trust and rapport within and across groups.

·       Ability to work with team members across the globe and across departments
