The role

This role is a unique opportunity to join the central data team in one of Europe's most ambitious and fast-growing hosting companies with more than +2M customers. As a leader in our sector, we recognize the critical value of Business Intelligence (BI) to leverage the power of our customer data and shape our commercial strategy.

You will be part of the Data & Analytics function , working closely with the Business functions to provide timely, reliable, high-quality data, that best support decision making.

About the job

As a Data engineer, you will develop and maintain the central data warehouse and help us take the most value out of our data and meet our increasing data needs. Your work assignments will center around back-end development, focusing on building optimized data structures with best-in-class load performance. You will help us integrate newly acquired businesses into the central data warehouse, besides improving and expanding already existing structures to enable an even more data-driven approach. To this extent, your role will be crucial in supporting the Data & Analytics team in increasing the data available centrally and its fast, easy access for the end users. You will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights that inform business strategies, improve customer processes, and drive overall performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for uncovering trends and patterns within complex datasets. The central Data & Analytics team is one of the pillars of team.blue strategy , and the priorities and collaboration in the team are aligned daily with full involvement from team members and the management.

Your profile

You are self-driven, ambitious, collaborative, and able to effectively and independently translate new ideas into concrete measures. You can communicate with all levels of the organization and translate the technical language into a more business-friendly language when translating business requests into technical solutions. Part of the role will be to deliver according to time constraints and focus on more projects simultaneously. The right candidate can cope with this and has a proven track record from similar positions.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
  • Implement efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure timely and accurate data delivery to downstream systems and applications.
  • Design and implement data models and schemas to support analytical and operational requirements, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Manage and optimize database systems for performance, security, and scalability, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Integrate data from various internal and external sources, including APIs, databases, and third-party systems, to enrich and enhance our data assets.
  • Understand or quickly learn business concepts in the domains of marketing, finance, PE, M&A and more.

Education and work experience

  • Advanced degree in Computer science, STEM subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, etc), or relevant work experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, working in business intelligence, ideally in a related industry
  • Demonstrable track record in developing data intelligence solutions that are stable and high performing; provide business value; and use resources efficiently

Technical skills required

  • Advanced skills in SQL, with experience in ETL development and data warehousing.
  • Experience with server integration services (SSIS).
  • Experience building large tabular models following best practices (star schema, snowflake design, etc.).
  • Power query (M) or C@ programming skills, to work with data extraction from non-relational data sources (preferred).
  • Proficiency in analytical frameworks (Excel, R/Python).
  • Microsoft Master data services (preferred).
  • Flexibility to learn and adapt; strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
