We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our dedicated team and play a pivotal role in our ongoing digital transformation efforts.

Description of position

You will be responsible for designing and implementing data processes, harmonizing and standardizing data, and building FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data products in modern cloud environments, and building the data foundation for our future R&D operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Collection, Curation and Integration: Develop and maintain data flows from various sources, including EDC, ePROs, wearables, biobanks and EHR.
  2. Data Harmonization and Standardization: Work on standardizing and harmonizing data by utilizing clinical and health care data standards to ensure data consistency and accuracy (CDISC, OMOP etc).
  3. Cloud Environment: Build and manage data processes within modern cloud environments, such as MS Azure, and leverage cloud-based tools for data processing and storage.
  4. ETL Pipelines: Design and maintain complex ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to facilitate data transformation, cleansing, and preparation for machine learning and AI applications.
  5. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with research scientists across various domains, including biostatisticians, data scientists, medical scientists, data managers, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, computational scientists (bioinformatics/molecular modelling), to understand their data needs and provide effective data solutions.

The location of the role can be in Espoo or Turku, Finland (relocation support will be provided).

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Data Engineering, with exposure to clinical trial and real world data. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, Life Science etc.)
  • Proven experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on clinical trial and real world data
  • Knowledge of clinical and health care data standards (CDISC, OMOP etc)
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining data pipelines in modern cloud environments (e.g. Azure)
  • Proficiency in modern tools and technologies for ETL
  • Experience with the tools like SAS, Rave, R, Python, SQL
  • Familiarity with both modern cloud-based APIs and traditional database APIs
  • Strong ETL pipeline development skills and expertise in data transformation
  • Experience in utilization of IoT and sensor data is beneficial
  • Knowledge of working in accordance with GDPR/GxP regulations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
