We are now looking for a 

 

Cyber Security Expert

 

to join our team Operations Management team in Africa and Europe working for a better future. The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Italy, Trieste, but also Finland, Vaasa and Turku or any major Wartsila location in Europe are possible locations. 

 

What you will be doing 

 

This role will focus on ensuring our compliance to industry standard security models (such as IEC 62443, NERC CIP/NIST-800, ISO 27001) as well as advising our development organization on security related issues.
Operations Management is a specialized team dedicated to support Wärtsilä long term agreement customers in their daily and long-term operations, in order to optimize installation lifecycle costs and overall performances by being connected from Remote.
Working in strict contact with Customers and other Wartsila products’ experts, the Operations Management team is formed by highly skilled engineers able to support from remote on operations challenges, with the primary target of ensuring safety and smooth energy production operations and to contribute to the overall optimized plant performances and costs.

 

As Cyber Security Expert for IT/OT systems, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Support Engine Power Plant customers with network devices, network architecture, and network communications security which are part of the Industrial Control System (ICS) environments and ICS Cyber Security environments.  
  • Monitor regulatory requirements, industry trends, and potential impacts to Engine Power Plant operational system networks.
  • Monitor system performance, connectivity, and resource utilization. 
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for networking issues and manage, configure, install, troubleshoot, and provide oversight for network devices and network services associated with OT/ICS systems, Cyber Security networks, and associated communication interfaces.
  • Support OT/ICS managed network device configurations (e.g. network switches, routers, firewalls) and architectures in a high availability environment and support associated network communications implementations and modifications.  (e.g.: SCADA Systems, DMZ Communications and Replication Systems, Programmable Logic Controller systems “PLC”, Distributed Control Systems “DCS, etc.) 
  • Work with Global Stakeholders to provide strategic planning for maintaining the IT/OT system networks and associated Cyber Security networks; improve, and work to implement network design changes. 
  • Follow change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Act as a mentor to other staff members to broaden network knowledge and technical expertise across the team.
  • Support the strategic management of network device information and configurations for Engine Power Plant IT/OT networks and associated Cyber Security related devices.
  • Serve as a Cyber Security team member and uphold responsibilities in support of the customers and related Cyber Security project implementations including Cyber Security event follow-ups in coordination with the Incident Response Team.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

  • Understanding of Reciprocating Engine Control Systems
  • Various industrial networks and protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN-bus, CIP, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, ControlNET, Industrial Ethernet)
  • Network experience with Industrial Control Systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS) and third-party datalink protocols (e.g. Modbus, DNP, etc.) in a utility, IPP, or other power generation environment.
  • OPC systems, Windows and UNIX servers
  • Advance programming of firewalls and routers
  • Strong networking foundations and experience in the development of network design architecture, topologies, and security.
  • Strong experience with Network Switches, Firewalls, and Routers and high availability network environments.
  • Experienced in assessing and resolving complex data network problems and incidents.
  • Strong level of understanding of IT/OT security principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • English language as a must
