Descrizione del lavoro

The Cancer and Brain Genomics Laboratory – is launching a Chair of Excellence proposal to host an international excellent early-career or established researcher to develop their project in the NeuroGlio team in the field of Neuro-oncology. The project should rely on the expertise in multi-omics technologies, bioinformatics, Data Integration and/or artificial intelligence with specific knowledge on Cancer and/or Neurosciences. The NeuroGlio team is particularly interested in experts on single cell spatial genetic and metabolomic analytics and methods that are complementary to our current expertise on preclinical models of brain, cancer and cognition, human brain tumor samples or liquid biomarkers analyses, and organoids/cerebroids.

Context of the call

Chair of Excellence Application is open to early carrier researchers or senior candidates of any nationality with an excellent international scientific reputation and/or a strong track record, with the ambition to develop their research in the Rouen Normandy research site.

This Chair of Excellence call by the Normandie Region aims to support a dynamic, attractive and innovative research in Normandy. The aim of the call is to offer, with the support of the Rouen Normandie University, substantial resources to carry out an ambitious project with a lasting impact on the laboratory's scientific/technological positioning and on the teaching provided by the host institution.

Successful applicants should be allocated a starting package of 300 k€

Host Laboratory and NeuroGlio Research team

The Cancer and Brain Genomics (CBG) laboratory (Inserm U1245) of the University of Rouen Normandy is composed of 5 multidisciplinary teams working in the fields of cancers and neurological disorders. The CBG lab brings together the driving forces of genetics and biology-health, with complementary skills in clinical aspects, pathology, genomics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, cell biology and preclinical models to facilitate the detection and interpretation of genetic variants, translate their medical impact, develop novel disease biomarkers, and develop new therapeutic strategies, ensuring CHAIR OF EXCELLENCEMultiomics Methodologies and Data Integration in Neuro-Oncology France-Rouen Normandie University 2024 DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 10/03/2024 international positioning in medical genomics and precision medicine. The CBG laboratory is the core of the Fédération Hospitalo-Universitaire G4-Genomics and represents a national and European force of great strength in medical genomics. The unit is located on the Rouen medical campus including the Health faculty, the University hospital, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, paramedical schools and a Medical Training Center. The unit is a founding member of the Institute for Research and Innovation in Biomedicine, which federates 7 Inserm, 2 CNRS, 8 University research units, a Clinical Investigation Center, and 3 IBiSA-certified facilities (cell imaging, proteomics, animal behavior), 5 core facilities (spectroscopy, genomics, flow cytometry and cell sorting, oxidative stress analysis, small animal imaging) and 2 animal facilities.

The NeuroGlio team (Head: Hélène Castel) gathers expertises in the field of Neuroscience and Neurooncology in in the context of genetic predisposition of tumors, neuronal and neurodevelopmental pathologies. The team aims to characterize new therapeutic targets in the context of brain tumors and to evaluate the brain sequelae related to cancer and cancer treatments, between therapeutic efficacy and preservation of brain functions. The strength lies on our expertise in molecular and cellular biology of migration and invasion of glioma cells and in the design and validation of dynamic cellular imaging tools. We also set up behavioral mouse models with cancer and after resection microsurgery, and during conventional treatments or immunotherapy. Neuroscience tools (electrophysiology/optogenetics) are developed on organotypic glioblastoma slices and in vivo glioblastoma mouse models. Then, clinical protocols and methodologies to establish glioblastoma organoids from patients and cerebroids from human induced pluripotent stem cells are currently leveraged and should open new perspectives in the field of Neuro-oncology.

Research project and orientation:

The research program should involve contributing to the NeuroGlio research field integrated in the Cancer and Brain Genomics laboratory, and the Normandie Institute of Precision Medicine by proposing a key scientific and/or technological contribution. The following areas are more particularly preferred:

  • All technologies, methods and Data analyses around spatial multi-Omics (single cell RNAseq, methylome, metabolomic, proteomics) in the field of neurosciences and/or cancer and more importantly Neuro-Oncology,
  • Methods and expertise on artificial intelligence applied to the Neuro-Oncology field, precision medicine, cancer immunology, cognition, patient care and/or quality of life.

The applicant will be expected to lead a major experimental project in the context of projects already ongoing in the NeuroGlio team, supervise PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. The work will be carried out within the framework of established consortia such as the cancer and cognition European consortium and the French Society of Neuro-oncology. It will be a strong opportunity for International collaborations and activities.

Application modalities:

  • A complete CV
  • A planned training, research and supervision activities
