Lilly has initiated a multi-year QC transformation program that will simplify and enhance QC Laboratory, then modernize lab operations with advanced technology and equipment in alignment with Lilly’s Lab of the future vision. This is part of a broader set of enterprise wide programs focused on enabling unprecedented company growth and delivery of new modalities serving patients around the world.
 

What you’ll be doing:

The Lilly Branchburg site is looking for an Associate Director who will act as Program Lead to drive the local deployment of a modern enterprise Lab Information Management and Execution System. In this site-facing lead role, you will be accountable to partner with site stakeholders and the Global Lilly Unified Lab (LUNA) program to deliver milestones across multiple workstreams such as Product Delivery, Master Data Management, Instrument Connectivity, and Organizational Change Management. You will be guiding, coaching, and formally supervising a highly skilled cross-functional dedicated team focused on execution of the following major phases of the program:

• Discovery phase - assess the current state of lab processes, perform gap analysis, and define the scope and integrated plan to deliver across all project workstreams.

• Build phase – execute the plan using the Agile methodology. This will involve development of the end to end product (Master Data, Process Flows, Procedures, Data Visualizations, Instrument Connections, etc.)

• Test & Deploy phase – Ensure the end to end product meets business need using robust validation and qualification processes, then deploy the product in line with approved change management plan.

Specific responsibilities of the Program Lead include:

Program management

• Planning the overall program and monitoring the progress throughout the program life cycle

• Defining common standards and processes across the program workstreams

• Managing the main program documentation, such as the program initiation document and roadmap

• Produce and communicate program level reports and updates, including status reports, risks and issues, and escalate to the steering committee or other stakeholders when appropriate.

• Aligning the deliverables (outputs) to the program’s strategic value "outcome" with the aid of the business stakeholders

• Develop and manage budgets for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals and objectives.

Resource management

• Direct program team activities of up to 10 staff from cross functional areas

Identifying, managing, and optimizing resources across projects leverage Agile methodology

• Managing program team for optimal performance and coordinating and delegating cross-project initiatives

Risk Management

• Managing and identifying program risks and issues across multiple projects

• Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, taking corrective actions  (e.g., defining new program processes).

Stakeholder Management

• Defining the program governance (controls)

• Managing stakeholders’ communication

How you will succeed:

• Be Engaging - We need a leader who will engage the a broad and diverse team focused on streamlining business processes using automated solutions and new capabilities such as Artificial Intelligence and data integration using modern API platforms.

What You Should Bring:

• Strong understanding of QC Laboratory business processes.
• Strong understanding of Compliance and Data Integrity requirements of Laboratory SystemsAbility to influence across Executive to Front Line and engage at both the operational and strategic level.
• Demonstrated project management abilities to lead complex projects through the management of scope, financials, timelines, issues, and risks.
• Experience working with modern technology including cloud based solutions, Artificial Intelligence, and Vision Analytics.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science based and/or Technology field

• Minimum 3 years of relevant leadership experience leading, within a highly regulated industry

Additional Preferences:

• Master’s degree in Science and/or Technology related field

• Knowledge of Pharma, Manufacturing, and Lab Operations

• Solid skills in problem analysis and problem solving.

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

• Proven teamwork/interpersonal skills

• Passion for working on a team from diverse backgrounds

• Familiarity with Agile concepts, methodology and framework

Other Information:

• Position based in Branchburg, New Jersey

• Some (5-10%) domestic and/or international travel will be required
