Job Title: Assistant Sourcing Manager - IT Procurement (Infrastructure)
Business Function : IT Procurement - Marketing and Business Services
Location: Port Sunlight, UK / Kingston Upon Thames, UK
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for tactical and strategic sourcing of IT goods and services for portfolio of IT Infrastructure, User, Telecoms, Applications, Software, supporting the Global IT Procurement Team.
Work closely with IT sub-portfolio teams in developing and implementing sourcing strategies, early involvement with stakeholders on projects, Responsible to support the roll-out and compliance to global strategies and contracts within the portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop and align own work plan, objectives, priorities, and processes within the context of the overall IT supply management and stakeholder community priorities and strategies.
* Support global and regional strategic sourcing activities within the IT spend responsibility.
* Identify, initiate and sustain direct interactions with appropriate internal stakeholders / functional/operating teams within the business to drive "buying" behaviour change required to meet business project objectives and implement the approved sourcing strategies.
* Conduct data gathering and analysis of internal needs.
* Develop and follow supply market knowledge and insight (e.g., suppliers, price trends, cost drivers, acquisitions & disposals).
* Support the development of appropriate sourcing strategies for the spend within the area of responsibility.
* Facilitate the approved sourcing strategies with relevant functional and operational teams within the business.
* Execute the sourcing strategy, including tendering, analysis, selection of and negotiation with suppliers, including crafting and placing legal agreements/contracts and confidentiality agreements from templates and ensuring that all conducted according to UL's code of business ethics and Responsible Partner Policy.
* Ensure that supply agreements, commercial terms & conditions, specification information, and pricing information, including changes, are communicated accurately and timely to appropriate operational teams/individuals.
* Develop a deep understanding of and rigorously apply the UL strategic sourcing process and tools, including fully operational and actively using e-Sourcing tools, e.g., e-RFIs, e-RFPs, cost modelling, and others.
* Develop appropriate contracting models e.g. SOW, catalogues, rate cards, punchout etc.
* Contribute to achieve the operational objectives: automation of Purchase Orders (catalogs), Preferred Suppliers list management, vendors reduction
* Provide input to the development of e-Sourcing tools.
* Respond proactively to information demands and questions from supply management operational teams and other internal parties as needed.
* Partnering and managing the Suppliers
* Work within defined Procurement procedures (Ways of Working) and always adhere to the Code of Business Principles.
* Candidate must have significant experience in Strategic Sourcing supply management to strategize, influence and execute the suppliers in the best interest of (COMPANY NAME) in alignment with procurement processes and expectations
* Work in an effective, cohesive team environment (ability to understand all areas of Indirect Procurement)
* Support implementation of Global projects.
* Awareness and understanding of local laws and legislation particularly when delivering projects is essential to mitigate risk to (COMPANY NAME).
Strategy supporting and execution
* Identify, facilitate, and deliver benefits through strategic sourcing / e - sourcing / demand management / vendor relationship management / value optimisation techniques working in tandem with the concerned stakeholder/s (Global and Local IT Teams)
* Identify the optimum supplier relationships for the organisation, negotiate value driven agreements that are in line with defined commercial and legal requirements and subsequently manage the supplier relationships/SLA's along with the stakeholders
* Achieving savings/cash targets through defined methodologies, tracking and reporting on these financial targets to relevant stakeholders
* Achieve other defined and agreed targets
* Support Implementing the global strategic sourcing processes
* Implement and manage sourcing best practices like 7 step sourcing process.
SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
* Identification and initial assessments of suppliers for assigned portfolio
* Maintain frequent contact with suppliers to develop long term relationships and obtain insights into suppliers' business conditions.
GENERAL
* Engage key stakeholders proactively, sell the value proposition of Indirects Procurement to develop a stakeholder network.
* Proactively identify and deliver Savings and/or Cash e.g. payment term extensions in line with set targets
ALL ABOUT YOU
ESSENTIAL
* Effective commercial negotiation and contracting skills
* Knowledge about IT markets - suppliers' market, Services cost models.
* Excellent working knowledge and application of professional Sourcing Methodologies and processes.
* Effective Project Management Skills with the ability to manage Procurement Projects with the minimal of supervision
* Track record of building stakeholder relationships across diverse Stakeholder groups and geographic locations
* analytical and numeracy skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
* Effective / fluent English speaker
PREFERRED
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
Studying towards or achieved a recognised Procurement certification
Experience Required:
ESSENTIAL
* Experienced (5+ years) in Procurement, preferably 3+ in IT Procurement.
* Experience in IT Infrastructure Category (Hardware, Software, IT Services, Telecoms)
* Experienced in managing supplier contracts
* Skilled in delivering to challenging savings targets
* Ability to understand the multiple areas within IT Procurement
* A skilled negotiator
* Experienced in stakeholder and supplier management
* Proven in driving commercial value in a Procurement function
* Skilled at challenging business stakeholders
PREFERRED
* Exposure to sourcing tools e.g. Coupa, Ariba eRfX and other automation tools
Travel:
* As per job/site requirements - average travel anticipated 3 - 5 days per year (domestic/international)
