We are looking for a DevOps Engineer, a Senior Software Engineer by discipline, who will be part of a small, cross-functional Data Engineering Team with a focus on connecting an ecosystem of microservices. What makes you the ideal candidate in this role?

 

You will report to Lead Data Engineer and Data Architect in planning and designing the streaming platform. You will collaborate with other developers in designing and deploying applications and data streaming pipeline, and with data engineers in processing the data needed for a downstream data warehouse. Specifically; you will be a contributor to the design, will write codes, and be a first pass at the problem. You will plan your own data modelling and design projects.

Your responsibility will be to support the design, development, governance, operation, security, and maintenance of the English data streaming platform, data pipeline and infrastructure, and data stores. You will facilitate input from stakeholders, provide constructive challenges, enable effective prioritisation of requirements, and make critical choices independently such as delivering platform components to deliver value.You will also take initiative to advance your own skills, and identify and manage development opportunities in the area of your responsibility.

 

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:

  • You have 3 – 5 years of proven web developer experience, ideally with ability to developer software from scratch and deploy to cloud platform with ease.
  • Proficiency in either Typescript or Javascript, with backend (NodeJS/Express/Nest.js) and front-end (Vue/React/Angular/NuxtJS)  experience, has a strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), different web rendering technologies such as SPA, MPA and SSR, and testing framework (Jest/Mocha/Chai)
  • Extensive software engineering experience with DevOps and CICD such as Terraform/CloudFormation, CDK, and GitHub, version control systems such as Git, RESTful APIs and HTTP protocols.
  • Experience of cloud and serverless computing (AWS), event streaming (Confluent Cloud/Apache Kafka) and container technologies such as Kubernetes/Docker; background in Unix/Linux.
  • Working experience with Kanban or SCRUM and a good understanding of data security best practices.
